I thoroughly enjoyed reading that. I'm going straight off to buy 'An Ear at His Heart' . The relationship I have with my father who died 16 years ago is continually evolving so I found this a fascinating read.
I’m intrigued! I was a bookish child myself, isolated from the world by my parents for four years while traveling the world on a boat. And now my father has passed away, I find myself in possession of a start of his captain’s log and my mother’s journals from that period. Neither ended up writing about the boat trip, and given the stormy family dynamics, I feel there’s a book waiting to be written by me, before the memories are all forgotten.
